Tracy Murphy

Tracy Murphy joined the South Carolina women’s basketball staff in May 2022 after nearly 21 years working in the athletics department. As the assistant director of women’s basketball operations, Murphy assists the director, Ariana Moore, with paperwork and other tasks around her role of coordinating the team’s daily activities while also keeping the office organized and running efficiently.

Murphy was a supportive presence with the program long before becoming part of the staff in May 2022. After joining the Gamecock Club as an administrative assistant in 2007, the personable and always cheerful alumna had become an institution with its membership in her 15 years of work with athletic department’s development group. A fan of all Gamecock sports, her relationship building within the women’s basketball staff led her to volunteer to work the team’s fan bus trips as demand expanded to multiple buses. When Murphy changed departments to join the women’s basketball staff, the Gamecock Club solidified her legacy and meaning to its membership by naming its reception desk in her honor.

Prior to her work with the Gamecock Club, Murphy first joined South Carolina Athletics in November 2001 as an administrative assistant working with the department’s senior woman administrator.

A 1991 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Murphy is married with three children.
