Gamecock Track & Field Dominate in Regular Season Finale

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 3, 2025) – South Carolina Track & Field put together a strong outing in the final day of the regular season outdoor finale at the East Coast Relays in Jacksonville, Fla.

The women competed in six events with four wins and one runner-up finish. The first win of the day came from the women’s 4×100 meter relay as Cynteria James, Jayla Jamison, Zaya Akins and JaMeesia Ford turned in a time of 42.76, just behind their season best of 42.74 set at the Michael Johnson Invite.

Ford and Akins each won their own individual events on Saturday, as Ford captured the 100m title and Akins the 400m sprint. Cheyla Scott picked up a win in the women’s high jump after she cleared 1.84m (6-0.5) for a new personal best height in a Gamecock uniform. Scott’s clearance puts her in solo third all-time in program history for the outdoor high jump, while moving her up the ladder into second in the East Region. Salma Elbadra cranked out an 800m time of 2:01.76 for a new personal best as she finished runner-up in the event. Elbadra’s time now sits third in program history and seventh overall in the East Region.
